MVP 2010

According to Microsoft, I’m awesome.

Who am I to disagree? I’ve actually been an MVP for a few years, but the stackable acrylic award only started last year. I’m not sure when I was first awarded, but it was around the same time as Debra and Jon, so maybe they remember.

There was a time when I would get some pretty awesome gifts from Microsoft. I carry a laptop bag to work every day emblazoned with the MVP logo. And my USB stick is a leather-bound doodad with an MVP logo. As the program grew, they had to scale back those kinds of gifts. Even if the program hadn’t grown, I’m sure the current economic climate would have nixed those gifts. No matter, I’m just happy to be a part of the Excel community and a little acknowledgment from MS can’t hurt.

  1. Congrats! Well deserved indeed. I know you and your blog here has made my life with Excel indescribably better. Thanks for your contribution to my projects. I’ll be back for more…

  2. We all think you’re awesome… And for more than just your Excel capabilities. Although… it doesn’t hurt. :)

  3. Ditto for all the messages above.

You are awesome enough to be awarded a clear plastic dated hockey puck!

    Thanks for all your help.

  4. Congratulations Dick! We were first awarded in October 2001, and it was the year of the “ei” people — Deitrick, Kusleika, Dalgleish. Jon was a bit earlier. Maybe the previous October, or sometime in 2001.

  5. Congratulations… well deserved. I have extended my Excel skills over the last several years by applying many of the tips and techniques presented in your blog. Thanks.

  6. Congratulations, you deserve it. I have learned so much from your blog and I really appreciate the contributions of your peers as well. Thank you very much indeed.

  7. Congratulations, you deserve it. You are a great teacher or to use the Indian terminology a great Guru.

    cheers

  8. Congratulations! Your tips and devotion of time has been a definite plus to my Excel experience. Certainly MS knows when you were first recognized and certainly you would be more than deserving of the additional ‘hockey pucks’ for those prior years to be added to the stack.

    Thank you!

  9. Hi,

I must agree with Microsoft. I’ve learned a lot and found the discussions very helpful here.
    Well done!

    Cheers

That’s probably why I find my name often spelled as ” Neik”! I was in the October 2001 draft too.

Anyway, congratulations, Dick! Well deserved indeed.

    Kind regards,

    Niek Otten

  11. Congratulations! Your site is fantastic and your recognition is well-deserved. Your advice/guidance is always top-notch and useful in the work place.

  12. Congrats Dick. Got mine last week too, so my stack matches yours.

I got awarded in April 2002 if memory serves me right. Then I got another award in October 2002. Those were the days
    :-)
