Dick,

I have done something similar with my (somewhat higher) golf scores. I found that the best way was to simply plot the mean over par (i.e. mean score per hole - par) against the holes handicap index. Following Tufte's data-ink ratio (http://www.infovis-wiki.net/index.php/Data-Ink_Ratio) principles, I use only a point marker rather than a bar. The result should show a steady downward trend from index 1 to index 18, points that are off the trend indicate holes that play (for you) differently from the handicap index.

Cheers,

hi
Any chance you can provide this is an Excel 2003 file? I've been hankering after a decent set of golf stats to mess about with in Tableau. (and I only have Excel 2003!).
Thanks
Andy

Rather than use databars, I'd say without a doubt that the best way to compare your average to the handicap rankings for each hole, is to plot a scatter plot of the two. A quick one I drew up shows all but one hole are on (or within 1 rank) of the main diagonal (i.e. actual = handicap).
